At Teach Support Develop Ltd., we specialise in helping care homes achieve excellence in medication management through a flexible approach tailored to each home’s unique needs, rather than a one-size-fits-all process.
With over 40 years of experience as a community and hospital pharmacist, and the last 9 years working within an NHS Care Home Governance team, I recognised the challenges care homes face in complying with legislation and local policies regarding medication handling. This includes the ordering process, correct storage, administration, and safe disposal of medication.

Having conducted over 400 audits (developed around NICE SC1 guidelines) in more than 70 care homes, it became clear that simply providing a list of requirements to achieve compliance was insufficient. Teach Support Develop Ltd. specialises in helping care homes achieve excellence in medication management through a flexible approach tailored to each home’s unique needs.
To further support care homes, we have developed and conducted over 50 training programs using examples from the care homes’ medication records, making the training more relevant and relatable to the participants. Where necessary, Teach Support Develop Ltd. also facilitates collaboration between the home, surgery, and pharmacy to improve workflows, reduce barriers, and enhance resident safety.
While working with the Care Home Governance team, we developed policies and procedures that are easier to understand and follow, yet still comply with relevant legislation. These range from advice on expiry dates and body maps to ensure correct recording of when and where topicals are applied, to recording transdermal patch placement rotations and the legal requirements for administering covert medication.
